(Blaine Tech); to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was
performed at the subject site on October 24, 1996.
V
a
In October,Blaine Tech gauged and sampled all fourteen site-related wells. All groundwater samples were
analyzed for the presence of TPHGas,BTEX constituents, and MTBE.The measured direction of
groundwater flow was variable.Detectable concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons were measured at
wells MW-4,MW-6,MW-9,and MW=13. There were detections of MTBE measured at wells MW-9 and
MW-13.However,further analysis of these detections by EPA Method 8260 only confirmed the detection
at well MW-9(200 ppb). The groundwater results at all other wells were non-detect.
There were seven groundwater monitoring wells abandoned during November, 1996.There are seven
wells remaining that would continue to be monitored. Chevron would like to propose the following
modification to the current monitoring program:
f
Gauge and sample wells MW-3,MW-11,and MW-13 annually (1st&3rd Qrtrs.)
Gauge and sample wells MW77,MW-10,MW-12, and MW-14 annually (1st Qrtr.)
Analyze all samples for TPHG,BTEX,and MTBE
Report annually;after 3rd quarter monitoring event
I
f
The proposed program will be implemented as soon as approval is received from your agency. If you have
any questions or comments,I can be reached at(510)'842-8695.
Sincerely,
Brett L.
