(Blaine Tech),to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was
performed at the subject site on July 30, 1996:
. t
During.their July sitewisit;Blaine Tech gauged and.sampled all fourteen site-related wells. All
groundwater samples were analyzed for the presence of TPHGas,BTEX constituents, and MTBE. The
measured direction of groundwater flow was variable.Previous measurements have shown a consistent
direction of east-northeasterly. Detectable concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons were measured at
wells MW-4,MW-6, and MW-9. There were 210 ppb MTBE detected at well MW-9. The groundwater
results at all othet.wells were non-detect.The measured levels at wells MW-4 and MW-6 were consistent
with those detected during the second quarter monitoring event. The reduction of TPHGas concentrations
and absence of benzene at these wells attests to the effectiveness of previous hydrocarbon remediation
efforts.
Chevron has submitted a closure summary report to your agency for consideration. Comments by your
agency regarding the closure report have been received by Chevron and are being addressed in a revised
version. The revised closure summary report should be submitted to your agency by.November 15, 1996.
If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached at(510) 842-8695.
i
Sincerely,
Brett L.
