PHS/EHD has the following comments for your
consideration.
,y til
Thank you for providing a more accurate site map locating the newly installedvapor .q
extraction well and monitoring wells to scale. ;! t
The report included the results of the second quarter groundwater monitoring"event.
The groundwater gradient continued to be in the northeast direction. The results of
groundwater sample analysis indicated that all wells, MW9, MW10, and MW11, which`i,
have'sufficient water to sample, contained detectible concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons. The downgradient well, MW11, revealed the highest concentration of j
benzene, 1500 ppb. Additional groundwater investigation to define the boundaries of ?
groundwater contamination, both on site and off site, will be necessary.
The request for two additional quarters of monitoring prior to the submittal of the work
plan,to further investigate groundwater contamination, is granted. PHS/EHD I,was on i{
site to witness the third quarter monitoring event, July 24, 1992, but has not yet receiv id
e
the third quarter monitoring report. The fourth quarter monitoring vent should be
scheduled by October 23, 1992, with the subsequent monitoring report due within 45 days
of the date of sampling. Please submit the work plan for additional soil and groundwater
investigation with the fourth quarter monitoring report due December 30, 1992. 1
PHS/EHD has evaluated your request to remove the VETS system from this site, for the
purpose of relocation to another Chevron site which has a greater need for the r
equipment. PHS/EHD does not have sufficient evidence at this time',to indicate that this
site has been largely remediated.
A Division of San Joaquin County Hrelth Care Sernca 'f
