Chevron v
Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
2410 Camino Ramon, San Ramon, California•Phone (415) 842-9500
Mail Address:P0.Box 5004,San Ramon,CA 94583-0804
Marketing Department
April 25, 1991
Ms. Diane Hinson
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Former Chevron S.S. # 9-1918
45 E. Harding Way, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Hinson:
Enclosed are two reports. The first report, dated March 25, 1991, documents the start-up and
operation of the vapor extraction and treatment system(VETS)at the site referenced above. I have
also instructed Chevron's consultant, EA Engineering, to send copies of future quarterly VETS
monitoring reports to you when they are sent to the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control Board. As
you can see from the report, remediation of the soils at the site has been effective in reducing the
levels of volatile hydrocarbons present in the subsurface.
The second report, dated April 1991, proposes the drilling of a bore hole in the vicinity of the
former tank pit. The drilling of the bore hole will enable soil samples to be collected so that the
remaining levels of hydrocarbons present in the soil can be determined. The bore hole will be
developed into a groundwater monitoring well so that groundwater samples can be collected to
determine if there if there are any dissolved hydrocarbons present in the groundwater beneath the
site.
Also enclosed is a check in the sum of$150 as now required by San Joaquin County for work plan
review. Chevron's consultant has already sent a check in the sum of$89 for a well drilling permit
as required. Also enclosed is a completed Authorization To Release/Billing Acknowledgement
Form.
The property owner is very interested in knowing what plans Chevron has for further monitoring
and/or remediation so that he may proceed with his plans for this abandoned property. As this will
depend on the results from the soil and groundwater sampling, Chevron would like to proceed
with the drilling as soon as possible. The property owner and Chevron would appreciate your
prompt review of the work plan and granting of the drilling permit.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at(415) 842-8658 or Doug Oram at EA
Engineering.
Sincerely,
z ptre
Clint B. Rogers
Environmental Engineer
