HARDING WAY- CHEVRON <br /> MESSAGE: Mr. Bain telephoned to ask the status of Chevron's cleanup efforts at the above referenced site. His <br /> attempts to obtain information from the Chevron engineer, Clint Rogers, had not been very successful. Mr. Bain <br /> indicated that Chevron was under the impression that no action levels for cleanup exist at the state level. <br /> 1 explained to Mr. Bain that Chevron was mistaken as far as action levels for groundwater, the State of California <br /> i does have MCL's. The soil cleanup activity that Chevron is performing does not have,'designated 'cleanup levels, <br /> although,guidance documents exist for the purpose of evaluating the soil cleanup. <br /> I explained further that Chevron is currently working on the soil remediation at the above site, but the groundwater <br /> cleanup is yet undefined. In earlier correspondence to Chevron,PHS-EHD requested thafChevron adequately define <br /> the groundwater contamination by placing a downgradient well in an off-site location. Chevron requested that the <br /> soil cleanup be implemented first prior to installing the downgradient well <br /> Mr.Bain inquired as to the length of time for cleanup of the site.
