s
coil vapor be extracted without fussing through the fully
operational incinerator (ThOx) or catalytic reactor (CatOx)
before discharge to the atmosphare.
- 2.5 PROCESS WEIGHT
Preliminary extraction tests conducted on four of the five vapor
extraction wells indicated Initial TPH concentrations ranging
from 4,500 to 74,000 ppm. A 30-cfm vacuum pump was attached to
each well individually, and vapor camples were collected during
vacuum extraction every 15 minutes for up to 60 minutoc. In each
well, TPH concentrations rose to a maximum and then began to
decline. Becauces the SJCAPCD had limited total omissions of
r hydrocarbons to 5 pounds in 24 hours, trusts were not continued
for periods of time that would cause omissions to exceed the
limit, given the high concentrations of hydrocarbons in the sail
vapor. The test dPta are discussed in detail below in Section
_ 2.8.
Figura 5, outlining the material balances, also indicates process
-- weights during operation.
2.6 FUELS AND BURNERS USED
The ThOx incinerator unit will be fueled with natural gas. Under
full operation, the ThOx requires a maximum of 6.5 cubic feet per
minute at 2-5 prig for continued use.
The pre-mix burner has two burner heads, each 4 inches in dia-
meter, constructed of ceramic in a honeycomb shape. The burner
units are constructed by King, Buck/Hasastech, and each has a
rapacity range of 5-60 scfm.
---- - The
-CatOx-and`VCU-both- operate-on-electricity,--The-CatOx-
requires 230 volts, single phase, 25 amps, along with a 115-volt.
20-amp circuit for controls. The .VCU has a 5-hp drive motor and
requires a 3-phase, 115--volt hookup.
c52/91918/txt 6
