3.2 GROUNDWATER CHEMISTRY <br /> Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in the groundwater at former <br /> Chevron SS 9-1918. The highest level was detected in the immediate vicinity <br /> of the to kn we 1 <br /> where concentrations up to 61,000µg/L of TPH and 10,000 ug/l~of benzene <br /> MW4 in April 1989. Groundwater samples collected in July 1989 indicated that TPH and <br /> benzene concentrations in wells MW3 and MW4 had decreased and hydrocarbon concentrations <br /> in downgradient wells MWS, MW6, and MW8 had increased. The record of groundwater <br /> sample analytical results is summarized in Table 2, <br /> Figures 10 through 12 show isoconcentration contours of TPH in groundwater under the site <br /> from February to July 1989;Figures 13 though 15 show the same for benzene. <br /> G <br /> 0019MM I <br />
