�crt� <br /> ETTLER - YAN INC. <br /> , <br /> December 6, 1996 <br /> Mr Brett Hunter <br /> Chevron Products Company <br /> P O Box 5004 <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> Subject: Letter Report for Well Abandonment at Former Chevron Service Station <br /> No, 9-1918, 45 East Harding Way, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Hunter <br /> At the request of Chevron Products Company (Chevron), Gettler-Ryan Inc (G-R) abandoned <br /> 13 on-site wells at the subject site (Figure 1) Locations of the former wells are shown on the <br /> attached Site Plan (Figure 2) On November 18 and 19, 1996, G-R observed V & W Drilling <br /> (C57-111373) abandon the wells listed in Table 1 A copy of the well abandonment permit <br /> issued by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department (SJCPHSD) is attached <br /> . Well identifications, casing diameters, well depths, and depth-to-water measurements are <br /> summarized in Table 1 Copies of the boring Iogs for each abandoned well are also attached <br /> Well Abandonment <br /> Seven 2-inch and six 4-inch diameter wells were drilled-out to their total depths using 8-inch <br /> and 14-inch diameter hollow-stem auger, respectively, powered by a truck mounted rig While <br /> advancing the auger, the well casing in each boring was milled, the annular seal and the sand <br /> pack were reamed All borings were drilled one foot beyond the total depth of the well casing <br /> to ensure that all well materials were removed After reaching total depth, the well boxes were <br /> removed, and the borings were backfilled to ground surface with neat cement The neat cement <br /> was tremied into the borings using the hollow-stem augers as required by the SJCPHD Ms <br /> Mary Maeys of the SJCPHD was on-site to observe the well abandonment activities The wells <br /> have been properly abandoned as required by California Department of Water Resources Water <br /> Well Standards (Bulletins 74-81 and 74-90) and SJCPHD guidelines <br /> Soil Sampling <br /> At the request of Ms Mary Maeys (SJCPHD), one soil sample (VW-3) was collected from the <br /> bottom of well VW-3 at a depth of 35 feet below ground surface (bgs) One composite soil <br /> sample was also collected from the drill cuttings for disposal characterization G-R.
