}, <br /> 45 E Harding Way, Stockton, California June 17, 1994 <br /> Chevron USA Products Company Page 4 <br /> 3.0 ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT WORK <br /> 3.1 Site-specific Health and Safety Plan/Background Review/Permitting <br /> Groundwater Technology revised the existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan required by the <br /> Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard "Hazardous Waste Operations and <br /> Emergency Response" guidelines (29 CFR 1910 120) The Health and Safety Plan was revised by <br /> Groundwater Technology personnel following a complete review of site conditions The document was <br /> reviewed by all Groundwater Technology personnel and subcontractors prior to performing work at the <br /> site <br /> Groundwater Technology conducted a technical review of all pertinent information prior to proceeding <br /> with assessment work at the site All applicable permits pertaining to soil boring and groundwater <br /> monitoring well installation were obtained (Appendix A) <br /> 32 Soil Borings <br /> On May 9 through 11, 1994, Groundwater Technology supervised the drilling of six sod borings to <br /> approximately 45-50 feet below ground surface (BGS) The borings were drilled using a truck-mounted <br /> drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside-diameter (O D) hollow-stem augers All drilling equipment was <br /> steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring, and sampling equipment was washed between sampling <br /> intervals Sod bonngs S13-4 through S13-9 were backfilled to the surface with a portland <br /> cement/bentonite grout after drilling and sampling were completed The borings were backfilled under <br /> the supervision of SJCPHS-EHD personnel <br /> All rinse water generated from steam cleaning was temporarily contained in Department of <br /> Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport to the Chevron refinery in Richmond, <br /> California for recycling The soil cuttings from the borings were placed on and covered with plastic <br /> sheeting pending characterization <br /> -711 <br /> GROUNDWATER <br /> 4527AAR.RPT j <br /> �� � TECHNOLOGY <br />
