• 45 E Harding Way, Stockton, California March 14, 1994 <br /> Chevron USA Products Company Page 4 <br /> 3.0 ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT WORK <br /> 3.1 Site-specific Health and Safety Pian/Background Review/Permitting <br /> Groundwater Technology revised the existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan required by the <br /> Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard "Hazardous Waste Operations and <br /> Emergency Response' guidelines (29 CFR 1910 120) The Health and Safety Plan was revised by <br /> Groundwater Technology personnel following a complete review of site conditions The document was <br /> reviewed by all Groundwater Technology personnel and subcontractors prior to performing work at the <br /> site <br /> Groundwater Technology conducted a technical review of all pertinent information prior to proceeding <br /> with assessment work at the site All applicable permits pertaining to soil boring and groundwater <br /> mornftoring well Installation were obtained (Appendix A) <br /> 3.2 Soil Borings <br /> On December 13 through 15, 1993, Groundwater Technology supervised the drilling of three 50-foot <br /> confirmation soil borings and one boring to accommodate replacement monitoring well (MW-2R) The <br /> boring to accommodate monitoring well MW-14 was drilled on January 4, 1994 The borings were drilled <br /> using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside-diameter (O D ) hollow-stem augers All <br /> drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring and sampling equipment was washed <br /> between sampling intervals Sod borings SB-1, SB-2, and S13-3 were backfilled from the bottom of each <br /> boring to the surface with a portland cement/bentonite grout after drilling and sampling were completed <br /> The borings were backfilled under the supervision of SJCPHS-EHD personnel <br /> All nnse water generated from steam cleaning was temporarily contained in Department of <br /> Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport to the Chevron refinery in Richmond, <br /> Caldomia for recycling The sod cuttings from the borings were placed on and covered with plastic <br /> sheeting and later removed from the site using a Chevron-approved and State-certified waste hauler <br /> An underground storage tank, unidentified on historic service station plans, was encountered during the <br /> drilling of MW-2R (Figure 2) On February 14, 1994, the site was surveyed using electromagnetic <br /> ❑❑� 'y GROUNDWATER <br /> 4895SUM RPT EJu❑ TFCHNOIAGY a <br />
