• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • SECTION 1.0 <br /> • Introduction <br /> • <br /> • <br /> This report combines the 2011 Annual Groundwater Monitoring Report and the <br /> • Ten-year Evaluation of the remedial action at the Koppel Stockton Terminal site.This report <br /> • summarizes field investigation activities performed in March,July, and August 2011, <br /> including soil sampling performed to support an evaluation of the effectiveness of the <br /> • remedy selected for the site and additional investigation performed at the former bagging <br /> • plant. In addition,this report presents the results of semiannual groundwater sampling <br /> • performed at the two recently installed monitoring wells(i.e.,KP-10S-R and KP-4D) in <br /> March 2011 and annual groundwater sampling performed at seven shallow monitoring <br /> • wells,two deep monitoring wells,and five piezometers. <br /> • The Koppel Stockton Terminal is located in Stockton,California,west of Ventura Avenue, <br /> • between the extensions of Hazelton Avenue and Sonora Street,and approximately 1 mile <br /> • west-southwest of the Interstate 5/Highway 4 interchange.The locations of the site <br /> monitoring wells and piezometers are displayed on Figure 1-1 and well and piezometer <br /> • construction details are presented in Table 1-1. <br /> • <br /> • 1.1 Objectives <br /> • The overall objectives of this 2011 Annual Groundwater Monitoring Report for the Koppel <br /> • Stockton Terminal are as follows: <br /> • • Meet the requirements of the Regional Water Quality Control Board,Central Valley <br /> • Region(Water Board),as specified in Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) <br /> No.R5-2004-0835, dated November 10,2004(Water Board,2004a). <br /> • Evaluate groundwater sample data. <br /> • • Evaluate the existing monitoring program. <br /> • • Describe remedial activities (including replanting efforts)performed during the year <br /> • and evaluate remedy effectiveness. <br /> • • Present and evaluate the results of soil and groundwater samples collected as part of the <br /> • additional investigation in 2011. <br /> • The overall objectives of the Ten-year Evaluation are as follows: <br /> • • Meet the requirements of the Water Board,as specified in the Conditional Approval of <br /> • Remedial Action Plan(Water Board,2000a). <br /> • • Document the results of soil sampling performed as part of the Ten-year Evaluation. <br /> • • Analyze the impact that phytoremediation has had on groundwater quality in the <br /> • 10 years after initial planting in 2000. <br /> • <br /> • RDD1112370001(CAH5003.DOCX) 1-1 <br /> Ee IIUMMD <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 0 <br />
