The work plan proposes to install a shallow monitoring well north of the
Koppel Stockton facility in response to Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(Regional
Board) staff s 27 September 2004 letter requesting plume delineation to the north.
Koppel proposes to install this monitoring well (MW-1 OS)in June 2005, and sample this well semi-
annually in the first and third quarters (Jan-March and July-September) for nitrate and ammonium
pursuant to Monitoring and Reporting Program No. R5-2004-0835. The rationale for installing
MW-1 OS in June is to wait until the seasonally wet soils have dried sufficiently to support drilling
equipment.
We concur with the Work Plan as proposed. Please provide a Monitoring Well Installation Report as an
Appendix t the Annual Groundwater Monitoring report, which is due I November 2005.
