SECTION 3 MONITORING WELL LOCATION AND DESTRUCTION <br /> 3.2 Utility Clearance and Permits <br /> Underground Service Alert will be notified at least 48 hours before drilling activities begin to mark subsurface <br /> utilities near the monitoring well locations.A private utility locator also will be contracted to locate utilities near <br /> the monitoring well locations. <br /> Well destruction permits will be obtained from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department before <br /> drilling begins. <br /> 3.3 Well Destruction <br /> Monitoring Wells KP-7S, KP-7D,and KP-8S will be destroyed in accordance with San Joaquin County Well <br /> Standards (San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, 2005).The wells will be overdrilled to remove <br /> all materials in the original borings,and the borings will be sealed to within 3 feet of the ground surface with neat <br /> cement.These monitoring wells are 4 inches in diameter and were originally installed in approximately 10-inch- <br /> diameter borings.Overdrilling will be performed with a hollow-stem auger drill rig equipped with approximately <br /> 10-inch-outside-diameter augers. <br /> 3.4 Investigation-Derived Waste <br /> General refuse from well destruction (for example, polyvinyl chloride pipe,well cover,and cement)will be <br /> disposed of as municipal solid waste. Excess soil, if any,will be spread over the planted portion of the former <br /> bagging plant area.
