Weston Ranch Towne Center, Stockton, CA D47223.01Page 3
August 21, 2006
The samples were analyzed in the laboratory for benzene,toluene,ethyl-benzene,xylenes(BTEX),
' methyl tertiarybutyl-ether(MTBE),total petroleum hydrocarbons as referencedto gasoline(TPH-g),
and total petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPH-d) utilizing EPA Methods 8015M
and 8021. The analysis of the soil samples revealed non-detectable concentrations with no dilution
for the analytes tested.
The location of this soil boring is shown on Drawing 3. The laboratory results are summarized in
' Table 1. The boring log and the laboratory report are attached to this report.
Stained Sod Barn and Wooden Shed(612 Henry Lone Boulevard
The initial site reconnaissance noted odors and soil staining in the dirt floor of the barn and the shed
structures. Soil samples were collected on July 18,2006 in the soil stained area in the area formerly
' occupied by the barn and the wooden shed. Two soil borings(B-2 and B-3)were drilled in the area
formerly occupied by the barn, and one soil boring(B-4)was drilled in the area formerly occupied
by the wooden shed. It should be noted that the soil borings were drilled after these structures.were
' demolished. The borings were drilled using hollow stem augers. Each boring was drilled to a depth
of 5 feet bsg and soil samples were taken at depths of 1 foot, 3 feet and 5 feet bsg.
' The soil samples were field screened for evidence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs),none of
the samples indicated the presence of VOC's from visual odors or from head space analysis using
' a photo-ionization detector (PID). Visual staining was observed on the surface but not below the
ground surface. The soil samples were analyzed in the laboratory for petroleum constituents. These
included total recoverable petroleumhydrocarbons(TRPH)and,if detected, the sample was analyzed
for TPH-g, TPH-d, total petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to motor oil (TPH-MO) utilizing
EPA Methods 418.1 and 8015M using a Silica Gel cleanup. In addition, the soil samples were
analyzed for VOCs, Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs), CAM 17 Total Metals and
Pesticides by EPA Methods 8260B, 8270C, 6010 and 8081.
The shallow soil samples collected at land 3 feet bsg contained TRPH at concentrations ranging
from non-detectable (ND) to 360 mg/kg. The.analytical results of the soil samples collected from
the depths of 1;3.and 5 feet revealed non-detectable concentrations for TPH-g,TPH-d and TPH-MO
from soil borings B-2 and B-3. The analytical results of the soil sample from boring B-4 at a depth
of 3 feet revealed the presence of TPH-d at a concentration of 13 mg(kg. The analytical results of
soil samples from B-4 at depths of 1 and 3 feet revealed the presence of TPH-MO at concentrations
of 12 and 42 mg/kg,respectively. The analytical results of the soil samples obtained from a depth
r of 5 feet in borings B-1,B-2 and B-3 revealed non-detectable concentrations for these analytes. The
analytical results of the soils samples revealed non-detectable concentrations for VOCs. Therefore,
the results indicate that the detected petroleum hydrocarbons at the low levels are likely non-volatile
rand possibly heavier hydrocarbons and below typical regulatory action levels.
The analytical results of the soil samples for metals for the samples from the barn and the wooden
