Harlan Rd.
French Camp, CA
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed "Limited
Phase 11 Investigation Results" (Report) dated January 11, 2005, prepared by MB
Environmental Geology for the above referenced site. In preparation for a transfer of
ownership of the property an environmental assessment was conducted that consisted
of collection and analysis of soil and groundwater samples from five locations around the
existing underground storage tank system (UST). The only contaminant analyzed for
was Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d). All the samples had some
detection of TPH-d, although, the laboratory did note that some of the hydrocarbons
reported as TPH-d did not exhibit a typical Diesel chromatographic pattern. EHD filed a
"Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge" and an "Underground Storage Tank
Unauthorized Release Report' on May 6, 2005.
The Report stated that the low concentrations of TPH-d "may be a result of naturally
occurring organic material in the soil'. EHD contacted Kiff Analytical and they stated
"Silica Gel cleanup and/or GC/MS analysis are recommended if additional information
about compound or product identity is needed".
Since there is an operating UST at the location and there appears to have been a
release from the UST, further investigation is required to show that an unauthorized
release has not occurred. A work plan for further investigation of the site must be
submitted to EHD by July 15, 2005.
If you have any questions about this matter contact Harlin Knoll, Senior RENS, at (209)
468-3442 or myself at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Departm'enntt.
Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV
el
