March 290 1989.
9 4. I :have. conducted a survey of° known undergrr od storage.
10 tanks in the area. There is :a site to the -north and..
11 hydrologicallyl lupgradient of the Color spot facility at which
12 thera have been as many as six underground storage tanks. We
1.3 believe :that this site may be one of the struress Of the benzene
14 contamination in the area.. We believe it ;is unlikely that Color
15 Spot's UST in question caused the 'benzene contamination.
16 5. Based on the foregoing data and our experience in
17 these types of cases, it is our opinion that:
18 a There is no evidence that gasoline was ever
19; stored in theUST -- no. T'PH as gasoline was detected in- any soil
20 samples,
21 b; : The lateral and vertical extent of petrQleu -
22 affected soil in the vicinity of the LIST has: been adequately
23 assessed and the petroleum-Affected sail in the vicinity of the
24 former UST was removed as. requ'ired by the LUFT :Guidelines..
25 c:.. The data indicates that the; "UST didnot: adversely
26 impact the. . r
oundwater at the site. The groundwater samples
27' taken in the immediate vicinity of the tank did not reveal any
it contamination of concern and other groundwater samples reveal,
`,1.-
`V11+1T.dRSPT1SYTtifMRLIN.DEC
