08 June 2003
AGE-NC Project No 98-0448
Page 6 of 9
44 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL-GAS VAPOR SAMPLES
SVE air flow samples were collected on 17 December 2002 and on 27 January, on 26 February and
on 20 March 2003 TPH-g was detected from all influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as
high as 400,ug/1 (December 2002)
BTE&X compounds were detected in all the above influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations
as high as 4 8 pg/1(xylenes,December 2002) Benzene was not detected in any of the above influent
SVE air flow samples Analytical results of SVE air flow samples are summarized in Table 5 The
laboratory reports (McCampbell Analytical Laboratory Work Order Nos 0301344, 0302376 and
0303367) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix D A plot of influent TPH-g SVE
air flow concentrations versus time is in Appendix E
I
45 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the following
equation M = C•Q•t
where M = cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C =vapor concentration (kg/m')
Q = extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
Between 17 December 2002 and 20 March 2003,the SVE unit continuously operated approximately
1,992 hours The average of analytical results between SVE air flow sampling events (Table 5),
average, SVE air flow rates (Table 6) and the operational period were used to calculate the
approximate volume and mass of extracted gasoline during these periods
I During the above air monitoring events, the mass of hydrocarbons extracted from the SVE system
was calculated to be approximately 33 29 pounds, or equivalent to an approximate volume of 5 33
gallons of gasoline extracted A plot of the cumulative volume(gallons)of hydrocarbons extracted
Ito date is in Appendix E Added to the estimated 226 22 gallons of hydrocarbons extracted from the
SVE system since 16 April 2001,the total volume of hydrocarbons extracted to date is estimated at
229 98 gallons The mass/volume calculations for extracted hydrocarbons are included with
Appendix F
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
