John P. Hazelton Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Re; Report Quarterly Monitoring
Sierra Lumber Site
375 W. Hazelton Ave. , Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Wnuk:
John P. Cummings and Associates (JPCA) is pleased to forward to you
this report on the quarterly monitoring carried out on December 11,
1995 at 375 W. Hazelton Ave. , Stockton CA.
BACKGROUND
The site has a lumber manufacturing business on it and is located
in the topographically flat, commercial/residential area of central
Stockton. Figure 1 is a location map.
An Underground Storage Tank (UST) was removed from this site on
August 1, 1988 . The 1000 gallon tank reportedly contained unleaded
gasoline. Groundwater samples collected in the saturated zone,
during this investigation will be analyzed for Lead (Pb) .
Soil samples collected from the bottom of the excavation at the
time of the UST removal were analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHG) ; Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and
Xylene (BTEX) . The soil samples taken below the UST in native soil
showed 790 and 1200 parts per million (ppm) TPHG at 9 and 15 feet.
Soil was excavated to about 15 feet and aerated. The excavation
was filled in with clean soil.
The former UST area is located on the south westerly side of the
building, under a shed like roof, located behind the warehouse
facing Hazelton Avenue, with the closest cross street Lincoln Road.
A Boring, identified as B-T, was placed by JPCA on June 24, 1994,
1
