1 <br />' Mass-Volume Calculations Of Extracted Gasoline Hydrocarbons <br /> • SIERRA LUMBER- 375 West Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, CA <br />' Assumptions <br /> • Utilizing analytical data collected from air samples (Table 5) and from field measurements collected during <br />' SVE remediation(Table 6),the average concentration of extracted gasoline hydrocarbons at the site can be <br /> approximated <br />' The hydrocarbon mass removed during the operating period can be calculated using the following equation <br /> M=C- Q • t <br /> where M=cumulative mass recovered(kg) <br /> C=vapor concentration(kg/m3) <br /> Q=extraction flow rate(m3/hr) <br />' t=operational period(hrs) <br />' The average inlet TPH-g concentration and average flow rates during each time interval were utilized for calculating the <br /> approximate mass/volume of extracted gasoline hydrocarbons <br /> 1. 22 December 2004 to 18 January 2005 <br /> 10 <br /> The average analytical TPH-g concentration for this time interval was determined to be 525 ugll(12-22-04=450µg/l <br /> and 01-18-05 =600 ug/1 ,avg - 525 /eg/L) The average flow rates during this time was calculated at 0 24 inches of <br /> water or approximately 25 cubic feet per minute(table 6),the operational period was equal to 648 hours of running time <br /> C : 525 ug/1=0 000525 kg/m3 <br /> Q z 0 24 inches water z 25 ft/mm <br /> t=648 hours(27 days operation) <br /> IConverting Q to m3/hour yields <br /> Q=(25 ft3/min)9(60 mm/hour)-(0 0283168m3/ft)=42 5 m3/hour <br /> M=C- Q-t=(0 000525 kg/m3) -(42 5 m3/hour) • (648 hours)= 14 46 kg of gasoline <br /> Converting kg of gasoline to pounds of gasoline yields <br /> 14 46 kg of gas- 2 2046 lbs of gas/kg of gas=3188 lbs of gasoline <br /> 31 88 lbs gas/27 days= 1 18 lbs/day <br /> Converting pounds of gasoline to gallons of gasoline yields <br /> I3188 lbs of gas - 0 16 gal of gas/lbs of gas 5 10 gallon of gasoline <br /> i <br /> 0 <br /> i <br /> i <br />
