t
03 September 2004
AGE-NC Project No' 98-0448
' Page 8 of 13
r
' 3 3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL-GAS VAPOR SAMPLES
Influent SVE air flow samples were collected on 23 February,27 April,26 May,03 June and 22 June
' 2004, additionally, one effluent sample was collected on 22 June 2004 From the above samples,
TPH-g was detected at 3,500 µg/l and 960 µg/l in the Influent SVE air flow samples collected on 03
June and 22 June 2004,respectively TPH-g was detected at 100µg/1 in the effluent sample collected
' on 22 June 2004
Various BTEX compounds were detected from the 03 June and 22 June Influent SVE air flow
' samples at concentrations as high as 2 1 µg/1 benzene, 16 gg/l toluene, 19 pg/l ethylbenzene and 10
µg/1 xylenes Benzene was detected from the 22 June effluent sample at a concentration of 1 3 gg/l
' Analytical results of SVE air flow samples are summarized in Table 5 The laboratory reports(CTEL
Project Nos 0402-137, 0404-195,0405-171, 0406-031 and 0406-212) and chain of custody forms
' are presented in Appendix G A plot of influent TPH-g SVE air flow concentrations versus time is
presented in Appendix H
3 3 3 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
I The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the following
equation M = C•Q•t
I where M= cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C =vapor concentration (kg/m3)
Q = extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t = operational period, in hours
Between 28 January to 10 March 2004 and between 20 April to 22 June 2004, the SVE unit
I continuously operated approximately 2,520 hours The average of analytical results between SVE
air flow sampling events(Table 5), average SVE air flow rates(Table 3) and the operational period
were used to calculate the approximate volume and mass of extracted gasoline during these periods
I During the above air monitoring events, the mass of hydrocarbons extracted from the SVE system
Y Y
was calculated to be approximately 108 pounds, or equivalent to an approximate volume of 17 25
Igallons of gasoline extracted A plot of the cumulative volume(gallons) of hydrocarbons extracted
to date is in Appendix H Added to the estimated 253 36 gallons of hydrocarbons extracted from the
SVE system since 16 April 2001,the total volume of hydrocarbons extracted to date is estimated at
270 61 gallons The mass/volume calculations for extracted hydrocarbons are included in
Appendix I
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
