Sierra Lumber Case 2 page.2 of 2
375 Hazelton Ave. September 26„2013
The Remediation Report indicates 5 wells (DPE-1, DPE-2, DPE-3, DPE-4, and MW-9) are all
currently being utilized to extract soil vapor and groundwater. The EHD approves AGE's
recommendation in the Remediation Report to continued DPE operation utilizing the most
impacted wells (DPE-1, DPE-3, and DPE-4). The continued operation of the DPE system during
the last year has affected the water table in the source area. A decrease of approximately 3
feet of the water table has been observed and reported. The EHD recommends applying a
higher induced vacuum and a higher groundwater removal rate to DPE-1 and evaluate any
influences 3 feet way at the point of MW-15. At this time, MW-15 should remain a monitoring
point during the active DPE remediation. If your consultant disagrees, please have them submit
a technical justification for incorporating MW-15 into the DPE system.
If you have questions regarding this directive, please contact Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442 or
by email at hknoll(a)sicehd.com.
Sincerely,
Harlin Knoll, REHS Nuel C.
