SOIL REMEDIATION PLAN
HOLLY SUGAR CORPORATION
i
Within 24 hours of excavation of contaminated soils, one composite sample will
be taken from the soil pile and analyzed for TPH-gas by EPA method 8015 per the
LUFT manual. The cogposite sample will consist of one sample taken from the
center of each of 4 equal sectors of the soil pile.
Each sample will be taken from at least 3 inches below the surface of the pile using
a driven-tube sampler, capped and sealed with inert materials and extruded in the
lab; or by using a clean brass or stainless steel tube, at least 3 inches long, driven
into the soil. The ends of the tube will be covered with aluminum foil, AND
plastic end caps, AND wrapped with tape. The samples will be transported on-ice
to the lab.
Chain of custody records shall be kept to document possession of the samples from
the time they are taken in the field until they are analyzed.
After the hydrocarbon content of the soil is determined, the soil will be aerated
accordingto Rule 4651 Table 1 . A copy of the lab results will be sent to the
District aong with notification that aeration has begun.
The aerated soils will be sampled monthly for TPH-gas until hydrocarbons are
reduced to safe levels as specified by the Department of Health Services.
I
i
