Based on the results of these site investigation activities, the.lateral and vertical extents of
impacted soil and groundwater beneath the site appear to be adequately characterized.
5.3 Plume Stability
Based on the groundwateranalytical results for the past four quarters, the plume of impacted
groundwater appears ppears to be stable and declining in concentration. With the exception of.an
estimated concentration of 65 µg11 detected in well MW-7 during March 2005, TPH-as-gasoline
was not detected in site wells during;2g05. MTBE and 1,2 DCA were detected in wells MW-3,
MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and VW-2D. Concentrations of MTBE detected in these wells during 2005 }
ranged-from 9.2 µg11 to 88 µg11, and concentrations of 1,2 DCA ranged from 0.5 µg/l to 12.2 µg11.
The cumulative groundwater analytical results are summarized in Table 4.
} Concentrations of MTBE appear to be declining, and should continue to decline to below
reporting limits by approximately the'fourth quarter of 2008. Charts showing MTBE historical
L) and projected concentration trends are included in Appendix D.
U 5.4 Risk to Sensitive Receptors`
On November 28, 2000, to evaluate.possible.health and safety impacts from petroleum
hydrocarbon compounds in soil and groundwater beneath the site, Ramage Environmental
published Environmental Site Investigation Report, which included a survey of potential sensitive
receptors within 2,000 feet of the site'.(i.e.; site vicinity). The survey included a review of water ,
. well completion reports at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), contact with
the StocktonEastWater DistrictJand`:California Water.Service, and a tour of the site vicinity.
U According to Mr. David Widmayer of the Stockton East Water District, three property parcels
within 2,000-feet have operating water.wells. These properties include the San Joaquin Catholic
Cemetery (site), St. Joseph's Hospital, and a residential dwelling at 1821 North Hunter Street.
According to Mr. Al Vigil, three irrigation wells exist on the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery site.
According to Mr. Ray McAllister of S#i''Joseph's Hospital, two wells exist near the corner of
U Cemetery Lane and McCloud Avenue to serve all of the hospital's water needs. According to
U Mr. Leon Schafer, owner of.the property at 1821 North Hunter Street, his well is used for
domestic use. Appendix E includes a base map showing the locations of these wells, a table
summarizing any available well construction data, and a copy of the available well completion
reports.
23
5+
