10 INTRODUCTION
' On behalf of the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, Ramage Environmental has prepared this
Environmental Site Investigation Report for submittal to the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD) and the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (RWQCB) This report documents a sensitive receptor survey of the site
vicinity, remedial confirmation sod and groundwater sampling, and quarterly groundwater
monitoring of the on-site well network
' 1 1 Site Location and Description
' The subject property is an operating cemetery located on the northeast corner of Harding Way
and Cemetery Lane in the city of Stockton (San Joaquin County), California (Figure 1) The
project site is located on the east side of the mausoleum building (Figure 2)
1 2 Previous Work (Abridged)
On November 17, 1989, one 500-gallon gasoline UST and one 1,000-gallon gasoline UST were
removed from the site in response to a faded tank tightness test According to the inspector's
report, a hole approximately 5-inches in diameter and numerous pin-sized holes were observed
in the tank bottom Three soil samples collected from beneath the former USTs contained up to
4,200 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-Gasoline and
21 mg/kg of benzene These analytical results are summarized in Table 1
' In August 1990, WaterWork Corp drilled four sod borings (SB-1, SB-2, SB-3 and SB-4) and
installed one groundwater monitoring well (MW-1) The locations of these four borings and one
well are shown on the attached Figure 3 Results of the soil and groundwater sampling
indicated that groundwater had been impacted by gasoline hydrocarbons but that the majority of
the hydrocarbon mass was concentrated in soil between 10 and 20 feet below ground surface
(bgs) These soil sample results are also summarized in Table 1
Between May 1992 and May 1994, Resna installed four additional groundwater monitoring wells
(MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, and MW-5) These well locations are shown on Figure 2
3
