Each of the four monitoring wells (MW-6, MW-7, VW-1 and VW-2) was purged of at least three
' well volumes using a decontaminated bailer Following purging and recharge, groundwater
samples were collected from the four wells using dedicated and disposable sampling bailers
Irrigation Well #2 was allowed to flow at the wellhead until the downhole pump was automatically
activated A groundwater sample was collected directly at the wellhead through a sample port
The groundwater samples were contained in laboratory-supplied glassware, labeled, and
packed in an iced cooler for transport with chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC
(Kiff) a state of California certified analytical laboratory (#2236)
Kiff analyzed the groundwater samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-gasoline,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), methyl-t-butyl ether (MTBE), dnsopropyl ether
(DIPS), ethyl-t-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tert-butanol (TBA) and 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) by EPA Method 8260B The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody
documents are included as Appendix A
Analytical results of the groundwater samples indicate that dissolved concentrations of gasoline
hydrocarbons continue to exist in groundwater beneath the site Groundwater sampled from
VW-2 contained 150 parts per billion (ppb) of TPH-as-gasoline, 0 5 ppb of toluene, 4 4 ppb of
ethylbenzene, 1 2 ppb of xylenes, 210 ppb of MTBE, 13 ppb of TBA and 26 ppb of 1,2-DCA
Groundwater sampled from VW-1 was non-detect for TPH-as-gasoline, but contained 1 4 ppb of
I
MTBE For the first time, groundwater collected from MW-7 contained detectable concentrations
of gasoline hydrocarbons (21 ppb of MTBE and 7 7 ppb of 1,2-DCA) Groundwater sampled
from MW-6 and Irrigation Well #2 did not contain detectable concentrations of TPH-as-gasoline,
BTEX, oxygenates (MTBE, DIPS, ETBE, TAME, TBA), or 1,2-DCA The historical analytical
results from (1990 through 1998) are summarized in Table 2 The current and more recent
analytical results (1999 through 2000) are summarized in Table 3
5
