wells using dedicated and disposable sampling bailers The groundwater samples were
contained in laboratory-supplied glassware, labeled, and packed in an iced cooler for transport
under chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC (Kiff) a state of California certified
analytical laboratory (#2236)
The laboratory analyzed the groundwater samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-
gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) by modified EPA Method 8015/8020 The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody
documents are included as Appendix A
Analytical results of the groundwater samples indicate that dissolved concentrations of gasoline
hydrocarbons continue to exist in groundwater beneath the site Groundwater sampled from
VW-2 contained 3,200 parts per billion (ppb) of TPH-as-gasoline, 70 ppb of benzene and 870
ppb of MTBE Groundwater sampled from VW-1 contained 4,100 ppb of TPH-as-gasoline and
10 ppb of MTBE The TPH-as-gasoline result for VW-1 was reported as atypical of gasoline
According to the laboratory manager, the detected concentrations of gasoline-range
' hydrocarbons may be associated with the glues used to connect the remediation system piping
Groundwater sampled from MW-6 and MW-7 did not contain detectable concentrations of TPH-
as-gasoline, BTEX or MTBE The current and historical analytical results are summarized in
Table 2
4
