East Harding Way, Stockton, California, dated March 6, 2008, for the detailed mass
calculations) have been completed for TPHd, TPHg, and BTEX in soil and TPHd, TPHg, BTEX,
MTBE and 1,2 DCA in groundwater. A summary of the quantified mass values, as reported
from March 2008 data, are presented in the following table:
Mass in Volume of
Groundwater I Groundwater LMass in Soil Volume of Soil
Pounds Cubic Feet Pounds Cubic feet
TPHg 15.16 11,444,932 _15,1_31.73 1108,251
TPHd ; 4.29 3,74_2,1_8_5236.01 2,007
Benzene 0.01 132,216 0.54 2,361
Toluene 0.01 94,440 43.59 71,184
Ethylbenzene 0.12 y 358,872_ 21.69 _ ; 71,184
Total Xylenes 10.24 481,644 _ 99.59 _1 71,184
MTBE 0.44 661,080 Not applicable Nota licable
.r 1,2 DCA 0.51 1,614,924
Not applicable Not applicable
Total Mass in 5,131.73
TPHg 5.16 -- --
3.0 REMEDIAL OBJECTIVES
1
According to CCR Title 23, Chapter 16, Article 11, at least two alternatives must be identified
and evaluated for protecting or restoring beneficial groundwater uses. In addition, each
•+ alternative must be designed to mitigate nuisance conditions and risk of fire and/or explosion.
Groundwater quality monitoring and data collection are currently part of the existing program
and will continue to be a key aspect of any remedial alternative selected. Continued monitoring
would be used as a tool to manage the dissolved contaminant plume as a means to assess the risk
of exposure or further subsurface impact. Vadose zone constituent of concern(COC) evaluation
using soil sample collection and analysis may be implemented to evaluate the adsorbed-phase
contaminant reduction and mass flux.
The proposed remedial action objectives are intended to protect beneficial uses of groundwater
and human health.
Soil
Using established technology to the extent logistically and economically feasible, the specific
remedial objectives for impacted soil beneath the site are to reduce petroleum hydrocarbon and
s:\environmental\22493\reports\feasibility.doc 6
r
r
