v1117 Lone Palm Ave,Suite 201
Modesto,CA 95351
Phone:209-579-2221
(: %TCIFax: 209-579-2225
L: ♦ Criterion 6:
This alternative can be reasonably implemented given the current site use and conditions.
During construction of the remediation system there would be disruption to on-site activities.
The equipment compound aesthetics and operation and maintenance activities are minimal
and are not likely adverse to the community.
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
ATC has selected groundwater extraction with biological augmentation and reinjection as the
remediation approach at this site. This approach was selected based on known success using this
biological augmentation at several sites in the Valley. Additionally, both soil and groundwater
can be treated using this approach. Success of biological augmentation is predicated on viable
subsurface conditions and an ideal biological environment.
Feasibility testing in association with technology specific sample collection and analyses are a
critical aspect in the process. As discussed herein, ATC recommends conducting both an aquifer
pumping test and several "slug" tests to .evaluate the groundwater hydraulic properties.
Additionally, technology specific soil and groundwater tests, which include geotechnical soil
C analyses, soil percolation tests, and heterotrophic plate count tests will be required to assure that
the necessary site conditions are available.
Upon Agency concurrence, a detailed workplan will be prepared summarizing the appropriate
path-forward steps.
L
r
L
r
L
s:\cnvironmcntal\22493\rcports\fcasibility.doc 12
i.r
