(Stratus), on. behalf of Mr. Kashmari Singh and Mr. }
Dalwinder Dhoot, is submitting this work plan to conduct further assessment activities
and feasibility testing at Joe's Truck Plaza, located at 15600 Harlan .Road, Lathrop,
California(Figure 1).
In a letter dated May 13, 2003, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) requested a site conceptual model be
prepared for the site. Stratus submitted a Site Conceptual Model Report (SCM) to the
SJCEHD on September 4, 2003. Following receipt of the SCM, SJCEHD requested a
work plan to implement the recommendations in the SCM(letter dated October 1, 2003).
As discussed in the SCM, two possible water-bearing sandy zones have been identified
beneath the site. The vertical and lateral extents of these water-bearing units have not
been adequately characterized. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) has been detected in
groundwater northeast of the former northern underground storage tanks (UST's),and the
vertical and lateral extent of this impact has not been adequately characterized. To
further evaluate the lateral and. vertical extent of these hydrogeologic units and the
dissolved MTBE impact, Stratus proposes to install eleven shallow-screened groundwater
monitoring wells, seven deeper-screened monitoring wells, and one exploratory soil
boring.
The SCM also recommended that groundwater extraction (GWE) and dual-phase
extraction (DPE) be evaluated as possible options to remove MTBE mass from the
vicinity of the former northern UST's. Stratus proposes to install one extraction well that
PAJoe's Truck Plaza\Work Plans\Does workplan 102103.doc
