1
Joe's Truck Stop
Page 3
• October 6, 1999
1
OBJECTIVE
1 The objective of the investigation is to establish the severity, and limit if possible, of a known
groundwater impact at the subject property and offsite properties.
SCOPE OF WORK
Site Safety and Health Plan
1
Prior to subsurface testing, as required by law, a Site Safety and Health plan will be
prepared in order to insure that all workers and sub-contractors are aware of the risks
and safety procedures associated with this Phase II Groundwater Investigation
Underground Service Alert
As required by law, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be contacted to check the
proposed well locations forconflict with-public utilities, such as gas or electrical lines
. Well Construction
Due to the depth to groundwater which is at a depth of approximately nine feet bgs,
the offsite borings will be terminated at 20 feet bgs The one boring drilled on site will
be terminated at a depth of approximately 30 feet and screened from 20 to 30 feet in
order to test the deeper aquifer The upper five feet will consist of schedule 40 PVC
solid casing The lower 15 feet will consist of schedule 40 PVC slotted casing with
( 010 size slot) 216 sand will be used around the slotted casing, a hydrated bentonite
seal will be placed above the sand column, and will be followed by neat cement
Wells will be flush mounted with locking caps
Well Development
Wells will be developed by a licenced C-57 driller using a smeal rig A surging pump
will be used to purge the well and extract any fine grained material left in the
monitoring well which might inhibit well development. This will be performed the
day following the well installation.
r
Soil Sampling
Soil samples will be collected every five feet. Soil samples will be field screened with
a PID and select samples will be analyzed from each boring. At least two samples will
be analyzed from each boring. Soil samples will be analyzed for Total Petroleum
. Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (1'PH-G) by EPA Modified 8015, Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl
Benzene, and Xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020, and for Oxygenated Compounds
