1 <br /> • 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> 1 Avalon Environmental Consultants (Avalon) conducted an additional Phase II <br /> Environmental Assessment of Soil and Groundwater at the request of Kashmir Singh and <br /> Dalwidner Dhoot, the owners of the subject property The assessment was performed at <br /> Joe's Truck Plaza located at 15600 South Harlan Road, City of Lathrop, County of San <br /> Joaquin, California, on January 22 and 23 of 2001 The subject property is currently a <br /> 1 gasoline service station providing service for large diesel tractor trailer trucks The subject <br /> property consists of a square lot, approximately 300 feet by 300 feet with a rectangular <br /> mini mart and two dispenser areas One of the dispenser areas is intended for automobile <br /> use and the other is intended for large truck re-fueling Underground tanks have been <br /> located on the subject property since the early 1970's <br /> 1 <br /> The purpose of this investigation was to define, if possible, the limits of an MTBE plume <br /> in groundwater emanating from the subject property A total of ten geoprobe borings <br /> were placed on the subject property and on a property located adjacent and north of the <br /> subject property Four borings were placed on the subject property and six were placed <br /> 1 on the adjacent property located to the north Continuous core soil samples were <br /> collected and select soil samples were analyzed Groundwater samples were collected <br /> from all borings with the exception of GP-2 located on the subject property adjacent to <br /> an already existing groundwater monitoring well The results of the investigation indicate <br /> that the MTBE groundwater impact has migrated to the north/northeast <br /> 1 <br /> Based upon the results of this investigation Avalon concludes that the MTBE plume has <br /> migrated to the north/northeast In order to fully define the limits of impact, it will be <br /> necessary to install groundwater monitoring wells on the offsite property located to the <br /> north and northeast <br /> 1 <br /> 2.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This P <br /> report resents the results of the Additional Phase II Environmental Assessment of Soil <br /> P <br /> and Groundwater conducted by Avalon and data from previous investigations at Joe's <br /> 1 Truck Stop located in Lathrop, California See site location map, Appendix I <br /> A Preliminary Site Assessment Report, conducted by Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc <br /> (Advanced), identified two areas of concern at the subject property One concern <br /> consisted of elevated levels of diesel fuel in the groundwater near a 12,000 gallon <br /> 1 underground diesel tank located in the southern portion of the subject property The <br /> highest levels of diesel encountered was 320,000 parts per billion (ppb) The other area <br /> of concern was noted in a boring placed in the area of the underground tanks (10,000 <br /> gallon unleaded, 8,000 gallon diesel, and a 6,000 gallon diesel) located in the northern <br /> portion of the subject property Levels of 22,000 ppb diesel were encountered in the <br /> 1 .
