I
1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Avalon Environmental Consultants (Avalon) conducted a Phase II Assessment of soil and
groundwater at the request of Kashmir S Dhoot and Dalwidner Dhoot, the owners of the
subject property The assessment was performed at Joe's Truck Stop located at 15600
South Harlan Road, City of Lathrop, County of San Joaquin, California, on November 10th
and 11th, 1998 The subject property is currently a gasoline service station providing
r service for large diesel tractor trailer trucks The subject property consists of square lot,
approximately 300 feet by 300 feet with a rectangular mini mart and two dispenser areas
One of the dispenser areas is intended for automobile use and the other is intended for
I large truck re-fueling. Underground tanks have been located on the subject property since
the early 1970's The present improvements located on the subject property are currently
under construction
IThe initial hydrocarbon impact was identified by Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc , in a
subsurface investigation dated January 1997, and during a underground tank removal
I operation conducted in February and October of 1998 The purpose of this investigation
was to determine the lateral and vertical extent of the hydrocarbon impact
IOn November 10, 1998, Avalon drilled seven geoprobe borings surrounding an
excavation which recently housed three underground fuel tanks. This site is located in the
northern portion of the subject property Detailed concentration maps showing the
concentrations of diesel, gasoline, benzene, and Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) in the
soil and groundwater are included in Appendix II and III
On November 11, 1998, Avalon drilled eight geoprobe borings in and surrounding an
excavation which recently housed one large underground diesel tank This site is located
in the southern portion of the subject property Detailed concentration maps showing the
concentrations of diesel, Benzene and MTBE in the soil and groundwater are included in
Appendix II and III
Based upon the results of this investigation, Avalon concludes that the southern diesel
tank area has been adequately characterized, and that the limits both vertically and
r horizontally have been determined Due to elevated levels of MTBE found in the
northern tank area, further characterization will be necessary in that area
' 2.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of the Phase II Environmental assessment of soil and
rgroundwater conducted by Avalon and data from previous investigations at Joe's Truck
Stop located in Lathrop, California See site location map, Appendix I
r
Avalon Environmental Consultants Kashmir&Dalwidner Dhoot
20 Corporate Plaza 9527-001-1
Newport Beach,California 1 15600S Harlan Road
r
