CBACKGROUND
r: San Joaquin County removed an underground storage tank at the
j Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill, 14750 E. Harney Lane, Lodi,
California on October 6, 1989. Soil tests have revealed diesel
fuel contamination at the tank removal site.
Soil tests were taken in the undisturbed soil at each end of the
i
tank. Tests results showed a diesel #2 concentration of 80 mg/kg
at the north end and 1100 mg/kg at the south end of the tank
removal site.
! The San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department has cited
the site for diesel fuel soil contamination(Exhibit 1) . They have
jalso requested further assessment of the extent of contamination
t and a plan for correction.
The County plans to excavate the contaminated soil and utilize a
land farming technique to bio-remediate the soil.
j
PLAN TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF CONTAMINATION
The tank removal site is shown on Figure 1. It will be excavated
i
to 10 to 12 feet below the bottom of the tank removal depth. An
rr in-situ soil test for #2 Diesel will be taken at a point in the
L excavated site favoring the south 1/3 of the tank removal area
1
