WORK PLAN FOR PRELIMINARY SOIL INVESTIGATION
November 1995
Burkhardt property
5154 Hogan Lane
Lodi, California
i
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Kelly Olsen,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)has
prepared this Work Plan to perform a preliminary soil investigation of the former underground
storage tank (UST) area at 5154 Hogan Lane, Lodi, California(the Site). k
The scope of work includes advancing three "direct push' penetrations near the former gasoline
underground storage tank area and collection of soil samples. The location of the site is illustrated
in Figure 1; a plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2. !
2.0. BACKGROUND
!
2.1. SITE LOCATION
I
The site is located in a rural residential area of San Joaquin County, southeast of Lodi (Figure 1).
The site is further described as being located within the southwest quarter of Section 19, Township
3 North, Range 6 East, Mount Diablo Base& Meridian (MDB&M).
i
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
It is our understanding that one gasoline UST and one diesel UST were removed from the property
in 1992. Soil samples were collected from beneath both USTs and analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g, TPH-d), and volatile aromatics (benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene: BTE&X) and total lead.
Analytical results of the soil samples indicated that TPH-g and BTE&X were present in soil samples
beneath the former gasoline UST. The UST excavation was backfilled with soil removed during the
tank removal.
2.3. EXCAVATION OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
On 21 September 1995, the gasoline UST area was re-excavated to remove impacted soil beneath
the former UST. Excavated soil was stockpiled on-site pending analytical results. The excavation
was approximately 10 feet in length, 10 feet in width and extended to a depth of approximately 11
