Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Monitoring Well Abandonment Summary at Gemelos-Paladine Mileage Center,
2421 Holly Drive, Tracy, California, Site Code: 1412
Dear Mr. Infurna:
ATC Associates has prepared this letter on behalf of Elaine Kluve to summarize groundwater
monitoring well abandonment activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1). This work was
performed following Regional Water Quality Control Board's concurrence with San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Division's (SJEHD's) request for No Further Action.
On March 1, 2002, ATC supervised the abandonment of on-site monitoring wells MW1, MW2, and
MW3 (Figure 2). The wells were abandoned by Gregg Drilling, a C57 licensed drilling company.
The three monitoring wells were destroyed by overdrilling the casing and sandpack to depths of
approximately 16 feet.
Soil cuttings generated during well destruction activities were disposed of at Forward Landfill in
Stockton, California on April 8, 2002. Two drums of rinsatelpurgate water were transported by
American Valley Waste Oil on June 21, 2002 to Seaport Environmental in Richmond, California.
Copies of the nonhazardous waste manifest are attached. A third drum of water was analyzed and
determined to be non-detect, and was discharged to the surface at the site on June 21, 2002.
Laboratory results are attached.
All work was completed in accordance with ATC's Workplan for Destruction of Groundwater
Monitoring Wells at Gemelos-Paladine Mileage Center, 2421 Holly Drive, Tracy, California,
Site Code: 1412 dated February 5, 2002 and Site Safety Plan (SSP) dated February 2002.
w:lwordprol92054.021reportslwellabandonmcnt 1
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
