For protection of the seal at the land surface, a hole at least two feet in diameter will be excavated around the outside of each well casing to a depth of approximately two feet below ground surface. The sealing material used to seal the well will be allowed to spill over into the excavation. After the sealing material has set in wells MW1 through MW3, the excavations will be filled to within approximately 3 inches of surface grade with an aggregate material and the remaining 3 inches will be filled with asphalt patch to restore the site's appearance. One permit application and associated fees (check no. 600) are attached. The application is for the three on-site monitoring wells. One soil sample will be coIIected from the cuttings generated from the destruction of well MW2. The soil sample will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA method 8015; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA methods 8015M18020, oxygenate fuel additives including methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE), methanol, ethanol, t-butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl-ether (DIPE), ethyl-t-butyl ether (ETBE), t-amyl methyl ether, 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), and 1,2-dibro mo ethane (EDB) by EPA method 8260, and dissolved lead by EPA methods 60101200.7. The soil analytical results will be used to profile the soil cuttings for disposal at the Forward Landfill in Stockton. The drums containing soil cuttings will be transported to the Forward Landfill for disposal. Report Preparation Upon completion of the well destruction activities, a summary report will be prepared for submittal to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). The report will include a description of all field activities. All work described in this workplan will be performed under the direction of a California Registered Professional Engineer. All work will be performed in accordance with ATC's Site Safety Plan and Quality Control/Quality Assurance Plan submitted with this workplan. Projected Schedule ATC has tentatively scheduled field activities for March 1, 2002. Once approval of this workplan has been received, ATC will confirm the schedule for drilling activities. ATC will notify SJCEHD at least 48 hours prior to beginning any field activities.
