L < < S J A Y v
15 December 1997
AGE-NC Project No 96-0211
Furthermore, it appears that impacted ground water extends off-site to the north, east and
south, and may extend further west on-site and possibly off-site
• Generally low concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons were detected across the site With
a low gradient an even distribution of hydrocarbons may indicate widespread diffusion of
contaminants
4 2 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the investigation, AGE has the following recommendations
s
• The next quarterly monitoring should be scheduled for January 1998 to determine if residual
hydrocarbons are persisting at the site
• Additional shallow soil borings may be necessary to determine the lateral extent of
hydrocarbon-impacted soil within the capillary fringe and/or lower vadose zone
• Additional ground water monitoring wells may need to be installed to confirm and monitor
the ground water plume
• The vertical extent of the petroleum-hydrocarbon impacted ground water is not been defined --
If required, ground water monitoring wells with discrete screen intervals located below the
depth of the first ground water encountered may be necessary to determine the vertical extent
of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume
' 5.0. LIMITATIONS
_ 3
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geolo gic/hydro geologic
' conditions at the site for the purpose of'this investigation are made from a limited number of
available data points (e g monitoring wells, soil and ground water samples) and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
' as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
S
1 f 1
