Harlin Knoll [EH]
From: Bill Cook[bcook@condorearth.com]
Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2012 4:08 PM
To: Harlin Knoll [EH]
Subject: SJC Public Works Interim Remediation update
We started the system on April 23, 2012 and slowly ramped it up to avoid overwhelming the catalytic oxidizer.
Influent concentrations were generally lower than we expected from the pilot test data. Concentrations and the
extraction rate increased as we gradually increased vacuum pressure. We had lower concentrations at the
systems maximum vacuum and began to pull water from MW-1. We are currently operating at a moderate
vacuum to avoid lifting the water column and drowning the MW-1 well screen. Oddly the equipment is close to
maximum temperature at its current setting, which would otherwise indicate that influent concentrations are near
2000 to 3000 ppmv. But our laboratory data indicates that concentrations are much lower. We recorded our
highest PID concentration reading to date, this morning, 1418 ppmv.
We will include a more detailed status update with the 2Q12 monitoring report.
Date Influent PID Influent Laboratory Extraction Rate Total Extracted
Reading Concentration TPH- TPH-G TPH-G (until next
G sampling date
4/23/12 210 ppmv 49.4 ppmv 0.01lbs/hr
2.19 lbs
5/3/12 615 231 0.07
2.19
5/22/12 600 394 1.09
290.78
6/5/12 1418
Total to date 321.95
\ 6/6/2012
