Harlin Knoll [EH]
From: Bill Cook[bcook@condorearth.com]
Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 10:05 AM
To: Lisa Medina [EH]
Cc: Nuel Henderson [EH]; Harlin Knoll [EH]
Subject: RE: Water Spilling from tank at SJC Corp Yard - 1810 E Hazelton
Attachments: 20130122_5960C2 006.jpg; 20130122_5960C2 001.jpg; 20130122_5960C2 002.jpg;
20130122_5960C2 003.jpg; 20130122_5960C2 004.jpg; 20130122_5960C2 005.jpg
The remediation equipment has been shut down as of 08:45 this morning due to spilling water from the
knockout water secondary storage tank. The tank was over filled.
The system is currently configured to draw soil vapor from well SVE-2B. Entrained water is separated
from the soil vapor in the knockout tank and then transferred to the secondary storage tank until
disposal. The water is classified as non-hazardous liquid waste.
Based on the lateral extent of the spilled water and the near freezing temperatures this morning, which
retard evaporation rates, I would estimate that two to four gallons were released to the asphalt surface
between 07:00 and 08:00 this morning. The spilled water did not flow to a stormwater system inlet or
other sensitive receptor. No vapors were being generated when the equipment was shut down. Only a
slight odor was noted next to the storage tank.
I have contacted Instrat to vacuum the water from the tank after lunch today. We will vacuum up any
water remaining at the surface at that time. The weather forecast for today is 630F with a light wind.
Evaporation should be sufficient to evaporate the remaining water before forecasted showers tomorrow
afternoon.
Bill A.
