Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, California
PHS/EHD Site Code: 1141
Dear Mr. Knoll:
On July 6, 2001, it was a pleasure to meet with you and Ms. Kerry Wasson of the San
Joaquin County Facilities Management Department to review the above-referenced
project. Based on our review of the project data and tour of the site vicinity, we agreed to
disregard Work Plan, Additional Site Assessment submitted on March 16, 2001 by Tait
Environmental Management, Inc. (Tait). Instead we decided that one groundwater
monitoring well should be installed between the site and an operating city of Stockton
water supply well, and that groundwater samples should be collected for analysis from
the monitoring well network and the city of Stockton well. This letter outlines the
methods and procedures for implementing these proposed tasks.
SCOPE OF WORK
Monitoring Well Installation, Development and Elevation Survev
To determine the groundwater gradient and flow direction, and to evaluate the extent of
impacted groundwater toward the operating city of Stockton well, one groundwater
monitoring well will be installed, developed and surveyed(Site Plan attached).
The well will be installed in 8-inch diameter soil boring drilled by a truck-mounted drill
rig, equipped with hollow stem augers. It will consist of approximately 20 feet of two-
inch diameter, Schedule 40, flush-threaded and machine-slotted(0.020-inch)PVC well
screen. Since groundwater was previously encountered at approximately 45 feet bgs,the
well will be drilled to a total depth of approximately 55 feet, and constructed with a
screen interval of approximately 35 to 55 feet bgs. Blank PVC casing will thread into the
top of the well screen and extend to the surface.
