1
Following the groundwater level measurements, all of the wells except MW-1 were purged and
' sampled The wells were purged using a pump and dedicated disposable tubing, until at least
three well casing volumes were extracted, and/or after groundwater temperature, pH and
electncal conductivity values had stabilized Following well purging and recharge, groundwater
' was sampled from the wells using dedicated disposable bailers and laboratory-supplied
containers Each sample container was transported in an iced cooler with chain-of-custody
documentation to Excelchem for analysis Excelchem analyzed each of the groundwater samples
for TPH-as-gasoline and BTEX by EPA Method 8020/8015M, and for MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME,
TBA, and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 82606
2 2 4 Waste Management
' Waste sod cuttings generated during drilling were contained in 11, 55-gallon drums for temporary
on-site storage, pending waste profiling and disposition The three drums of waste soil generated
' during the drilling of MW-3 in November 2001 remained at the site
On December 2, 2003, Ramage Environmental collected a soil sample from every third drum for
laboratory composite and analysis Excelchem combined the five soil samples into one, and
analyzed the composite soil sample for TPH-as-gasoline and BTEX by EPA Method 8020I8015M,
and for total lead by EPA Method 60108
1 The composite soil sample only contained 0 016 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of total xylenes
and 4 6 mg/kg of total lead The laboratory report is included in Appendix D Based on these
analytical results, Ramage Environmental profiled the soil as non-hazardous waste, for disposal at
' Forward Landfill in San Joaquin County, under Approval #4049 Currently, disposal of the 14
drums of waste soil is pending the availability of a waste transportation contractor The disposal
' of the waste soil will be documented in a future report or separate correspondence
Wastewater from equipment rinsate and well purging was contained in two, 55-gallon drums
' Currently, disposal of the wastewater is also pending the availability of a waste transportation
contractor The disposal of the wastewater will also be documented in a future report or separate
' correspondence
9
