San Joaquin Motor Pool Facility May 11, 1999
Site Assessment Report
Groundwater samples were analyzed for TPH-G, TPH-D, BTEX, and the oxygenated
compounds MTBE, tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),ethyl-tertiary-butyl
ether(ETBE), and tertiary-amyl-methyl ether(TAME) in accordance with EPA Method No
M8015 and EPA Method No 8260, respectively
Soil and groundwater sample laboratory analytical results are presented in Tables 2 and 3,
respectively Concentrations of TPH-D, TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE in groundwater are shown
in Figure 5 Laboratory analytical reports are presented in Appendix F
13.0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
Based upon the data presented in this report, previous investigations, current regulatory
guidelines, and the professional judgment of TEM,the following summary of findings is being
presented
a Two (2) confirmation soil borings (HA-1 and HA-2) were each advanced by hand auger to a
' depth of approximately 15 feet bgs in Area I A total of six (6) soil samples were collected,
a Two (2) of the six (6) samples collected from the hand auger borings in Area I reported
' concentrations of TPH-D above the laboratory reporting limit The samples collected at 5
and 10 feet bgs from boring HA-1 reported TPH-D concentrations of 4,500 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/kg) and 82 mg/kg,respectively No concentrations were detected from
' samples collected below 10 feet bgs,
a Four(4) soil bonngs (B-1, B-2, B-3, and SB-3) were advanced at the SITE with a drill rig
Soil borings B-1 (continuously cored) and B-2 were each advanced to a depth of
1 approximately 60 feet bgs Soil boring B-3 and SB-3 (slant-boring) were each advanced to
depths of approximately 20 and 15 feet bgs, respectively,
a Soil boring B1 was converted into one (1) 4-inch diameter groundwater/vapor well MW-1
Soil boring B2 was converted into one (1) 4-mch diameter groundwater monitoring well
MW-2,
a During drilling activities, soil samples were collected at approximate 5-foot intervals in each
boring for a total of 30 samples which were submitted for laboratory analyses,
a Sixteen(16) of the thirty soil samples were reported to contain concentrations of TPH-G
1 above laboratory detection limits Soil sample BI-38 was reported to contain the highest
TPH-G concentration at 3,500 mg/kg,
ra Twenty of the thirty soil samples were analyzed for TPH-D Only one (1) sample (132-40)
was reported to contain TPH-D (51 mg/kg) at concentrations exceeding the laboratory
' detection limits,
1 8
