Attachment A presents the remedial performance summary for the third and
fourth quarter 2003. Field Data Sheets are presented as Attachment B. Certified laboratory
analytical reports and chain of custody documentation are presented as Attachment C. A brief site
background and the status of recent remedial activities are presented below.
- SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located on South Harlan Road north of East Louise Avenue in Lathrop, California. The
site is currently an operating 76 service station. An ozone sparge system was placed into operation
on December 20, 2002. SECOR took over site operation in September 2003.
REMEDIAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Ozone Injection Operation
The ozone injection system consists of a panel mounted KVA C-SpargeTm System that produces 4
grams per hour (0.009 pounds per hour) of ozone. The system injects ozone to fifteen ozone wells:
SP-1 through SP-15. System operational data is presented in Table A-1. The system was placed into
operation on December 20, 2002. In November 2003 the system was shut down due to ozone
leaking from the compressor. In December 2003 a piston rebuild kit was installed but when the
system was restarted the circuit breaker would trip. The distributor was called out to the site during
the first quarter 2004 and SECOR believes that the problem has been resolved.
Ozone Injection Performance
The performance of the ozone injection system in causing breakdown of contaminants beneath the
site is determined by groundwater sampling. Monthly groundwater samples were collected from
monitoring wells MW-3 and MW-10 on September 23, and October 31, 2003 and analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes
(BTEX compounds), and methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE). Results of monthly groundwater sampling
events are summarized in Table A-2. Concentration versus time graphs for dissolved TPHg,
benzene, and MtBE in monitoring wells MW-3 and MW-10 are provided in Figures A-1 and A-2.
Certified laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation for the groundwater
monitoring events conducted during the third and fourth quarter of 2003 are provided in Attachment
C.
[ACon ocoPhill ips\Tosco Marketing1111951QRPS111195 4QO3 QRPS.doc
