i
4l
5.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The following are the results of field activities and laboratory analysis of soil and
groundwater samples collected during this supplemental site investigation:
• Near-saturated soil conditions were encountered at approximately 10 feet below grade
during drilling, with the depth to groundwater measured in the monitoring wells
during sampling at approximately 15 feet below grade.
• Analysis of soil samples collected from Borings MW-6 and MW-7 at 6 feet below
grade did not detect TPH-G or BTEX above the reported detection limit.
40 Free product or sheen was not observed in any of the monitoring wells.
• Groundwater elevation data as measured on September 15, 1993 indicate a gradient of
approximately 0.0006 foot per foot in a southeasterly direction across the site.
• Dissolved-phase petroleum hydrocarbon compounds were detected at concentrations
ranging from 400 to 38,000 ppb TPH-G and 2.4 to 770 ppb benzene in groundwater
is samples collected from MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, and MW-6.
• Analysis of the groundwater samples collected from Monitoring Wglls MW-1, MW-5,
and MW-7 did not detect TPH-G or BTEX above the reported detection limit.
-- Analysis of groundwater samples collected from MW-5, near the underground used
oil tank, did not detect TPH-D. Total oil and grease and halogenated volatile organic
compounds (EPA Method 8010) were not detected above the reported detection limits
in the groundwater sample's collected from MW-5.
E\0\10-151\SSI.Rrrl020494 5
f
N/411bO
z
