(GR) from December <br /> 1998 to February 1999 at the subject site during the removal and replacement of.underground <br /> storage tanks (USTs) and related product piping and dispensers. The scope of work included: <br /> observing the removal of the three former USTs and product lines; collecting and analyzing soil <br /> samples from the former and new UST excavations, product piping trenches, and related, soil <br /> stockpiles; collecting groundwater samples from the former gasoline UST excavations; <br /> coordinating disposal of soil stockpiles, installing three temporary conductor casings in the <br /> former UST excavation and new UST complex; and preparing this report. This report also <br /> describes the remedial activities performed to mitigate,petroleum hydrocarbon impact present at <br /> the site, specifically, removal of groundwater from the former UST excavation and <br /> overexcavation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil in the vicinity of the west dispenser island. <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject site is situated immediately east of the Louise Avenue offramp of Interstate 5 at the <br /> southwest corner of East Louise Avenue and Harlan Road in Lathrop, California (Figure 1). <br /> Current station facilities include two 12,000-gallon double-wall gasoline USTs, two dispenser <br /> islands, related product Iines, one canopy, and a station building. Former station facilities <br /> removed during construction activities include one 10,000-gallon, one 8,000-gallon, and one <br /> 6,000-gallon single-wall fiberglass gasoline USTs, two dispenser islands, related product lines, <br /> and one canopy. Six on-site groundwater monitoring wells (MW71 through MW-6) are also <br /> present at the site. Locations of the pertinent site features are shown on Figure 2. <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Construction activities were performed by Walton Engineering, Inc. (Walton), of West <br /> Sacramento, California. Sampling was performed by GR personnel in accordance with the GR <br /> Field Methods and Procedures (attached).
