Second Quarter 2015 Site Status Report August 14, 2015
Former Nestle USA, Inc. Facility, Ripon, CA
o Eight Diamond Pet Food wells (PW-6, PW-8, TH-1, TH-7, TH-8, TH-9, TH-
10, and TH-11),
o Four private irrigation wells (RPS-1, RC-2, CALTRANS, and 7507 Kiernan
Ave-Irr),
o One IRAP treatment system at 230 Industrial Avenue (influent, mid-point
and effluent),
o Three domestic well treatment systems (5725 Hall Road, 7501 Kiernan
Avenue, and 802 Vera Avenue), and
o Twelve domestic wells (110 Manley Road, 361 Parallel Avenue, 5500 Hall
Road, 5724 Hall Road, 7717 Kiernan Avenue, 7961 Kiernan Avenue, 7969
Kiernan Avenue, 7971 Kiernan Avenue, 8001 Kiernan Avenue, 8313
Kiernan Avenue, 1051 Robert Avenue, and RC-1)a.
ECM sent VOC samples to TestAmerica Laboratory in Pleasanton, California for analysis
using either United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 82608 or
USEPA Method 524.2, as required by MRP R5-2014-0815.
In addition, ECM collected the following MNA data in accordance with the Monitored
Natural Attenuation Work Plan (ECM, 2014):
• Between April 2 and June 18, 2015, ECM monitored and collected geochemical
samples from:
o Fifty-three (54) Nestle monitoring wells (13 Upper Aquifer wells, 30
Intermediate Aquifer wells, and 11 Lower Aquifer wells) using low-flow
purging techniques,
o Seventeen (17) Nestle monitoring wells (1 Upper Aquifer well, 15
Intermediate Aquifer wells, and 1 Lower Aquifer well) for compound-specific
isotope analysis (CSIA).
Geochemical samples were sent to TestAmerica Laboratory in Pleasanton, California and
analyzed for nitrate and sulfate (USEPA Method 300), sulfide (SM4500-S), ferrous iron
and dissolved manganese (USEPA Method 6010B), and methane (RSK-175). CSIA-
carbon samples were sent to Microseeps/Pace Analytical Energy services, LLC for
measurement of stable isotope ratios with an isotope-ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS).
Microseeps/Pace also analyzed VOCs (USEPA Method 8260B) for the 17 CSIA-carbon
samples.
Figure 2 through Figure 4 depict the potentiometric surface maps for the Upper,
Intermediate, and Lower aquifers. Table 1 through Table 4 present pertinent well
information, water level elevation, and water quality analytical data. Table 5 presents the
well purge parameters and laboratory results for geochemical analysis. Table 6
The well at 415 Parallel Avenue was not sampled because there was no access to the property. The
property has been condemned by the City of Ripon and ECM personnel confirmed the property was
unoccupied during the sampling period.
