(ECM) has
prepared this notification of intent to properly decommission the inactive private domestic
supply well at 7501 Kiernan Avenue, Modesto, CA, on behalf of Nestle USA, Inc. (Nestle).
Consistent with the 2007 Water Replacement Contingency Plan, Nestle installed a
replacement well at this location. The previously existing well is not in use. As you know,
Nestle has taken steps to destroy potential conduit wells, particularly inactive wells that may
facilitate plume migration. Consistent with this effort, ECM recommends prompt destruction
of this well.
Upon receipt of your concurrence in this recommendation, ECM will contact the well owners
and will develop a schedule to destroy the well in accordance with County regulations.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Environmental Cost Management, Inc.
Binayak Acharya
Program Manager
CC: Mike Desso, NUSA
Distribution List
