This sampling
effort is part of an on going groundwater monitoring program in your area. Trichloroethene
(TCE) and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)have been detected in nearby monitoring wells
and municipal supply wells. TCE contamination was first discovered in 1985 and is the result of
historical leakage from the former Nestle Facility located along Industrial Avenue. Nestle USA
has been actively remediating the TCE plume since 1986. Leakage of MTBE from the existing
Shell Station at 341 East Main Street was discovered in 1995 and remedial efforts are scheduled
to begin in February 2000.
The groundwater sample collected from your well was analyzed for volatile organic compounds
(VOCs), including TCE and MTBE,by EPA Methods 8021B and 8260. VOCs were not
detected in the sample collected from your well. A copy of the laboratory analytical
documentation will be provided to you upon request.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 255-3058.
Marcus L.
