Cypress
Environmental a 3 i,''',' - >'!i► CQ 5 5
October 31, 1995
Ms. Diane Hinson and Mr.Steve Sasson
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Re: Soil Sampling and Excavation Report, Former Acetone Tank and Pipeline Area, 950
Industrial Drive, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Hinson and Mr. Sasson:
The attached report presents the results of the soil sampling and excavation program
conducted during July and September 1995 in the former underground acetone tank and
pipeline area at 950 Industrial Drive in Stockton. The work was conducted in accordance
with the following workplans prepared by Cypress Environmental and approved by the San
Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division:
• Revised Workplan for Soil Sampling at Former Acetone Tanks Area (June 23,
1995); and
• Workplan for Soil Excavation and Additional Testing in Former Acetone Pipeline
Area (August 23, 1995).
As you know, Universal-Rundle Corporation, through its contractors, has undertaken
significant work in the former underground acetone tank and pipeline area to remove and/or
confirm the removal of the acetone and other volatile organic compounds previously
detected. As discussed in the attached report, soil samples from recent borings indicate
that these compounds are no longer detected in this area. Accordingly, we request that the
County issue a letter to Universal-Rundle Corporation and Ms. Marian Cecile Mohr Fry
stating that (1) no further work is required in the area of the former acetone tanks and
pipeline and (2) the case related to the former acetone tanks and pipeline is closed,
Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
C ss Environm ntal
Janet C.
