1 <br /> Mohr-Fry Ranches <br /> 950 Industrial Drive, Stockton, California August 6, 1996 <br /> Site Closure Report Page. 4 <br /> Iat 2 8 mg/kg Soil removed from outside the building was stockpiled as S-3-1 and 5-3-2 <br /> Soil from inside the building was stockpiled as 5-3-3 Each pile was sampled separately <br />' and composited <br /> Upon approval of the soil treatment work plan dated June 26, 1995, HKM, Inc , as <br /> directed by AW, Inc , spread the stockpiled soil to an average height of 12 inches while <br /> inoculating it with a petroleumphilic bacteria culture and nutrients A six (6) mil plastic <br />' Iiner was used to separate the contaminated soil from the ground surface Maintenance <br /> and cultivation of the soil and bacteria was performed once a week for the first six weeks <br /> and then periodically to maintain balance throughout the treatment period The soil was <br />' then re-inoculated in December of 1995 to further aid in decreasing the levels of <br /> contamination <br />' San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) did not require a <br /> permit for the above activities This was because of the lack of vapor exhumation or <br /> emissions from the compounds and concentrations of diesel present in the soil <br />' All contaminated soil from the remedial excavations was treated for a duration of twelve <br /> months The volatile aromatic compounds (BTX&E) have since been removed The <br /> levels of Diesel and Motor Oil were significantly reduced <br /> Satisfactory action was taken under a different contractor to mitigate the acetone <br />' previously released from two 8,000 gallon tanks southeast of the building <br />' 3.0 Well Destruction <br />' On August 5, 1996, WHY,in conjunction with Frontier Drilling, a licensed environmental <br /> water well contractor, under permit and inspection of PHS/EBD destroyed the wells by <br /> pressure grouting to grade with neat cement This effectively destroyed potential conduits <br />' to groundwater The well locations are within the truck and forklift traffic area Future <br /> plans show that the entire area is under new A/C pavement <br />' 4.0 Soil Conditions <br /> The subsurface hthology of the Mohr-Fry Ranches site in Stockton, California is <br />' characterized by interbedded inorganic micaceous silty and clayey sands, and clayey, sandy <br /> silts Covering the entire site from 11/2 to four feet below grade is a black, clayey peat bed <br /> I averaging 21/2 feet thick Overlying the peat is a one foot thick very micaceous, silty, <br /> clayey olive-green sand Surface contamination traveled laterally in the overlying sand <br /> layer and did not migrate vertically through the clayey peat bed in Excavation 2 <br /> All historical soil sampling data is included as Appendix A <br />
